What makes a great model?
For me, modelling epitomizes the need for showcasing a designer’s creations and her job as an ambassador for the brand she/he represents. Look at examples like Liz Hurley, Nicole Kidman, Keira Knightly, Tyra Banks, Heid Klum & Adriana Lima. The brands they represent immediately spring to mind. They have captured the imagination on the catwalk or in their commercials. A model’s name that make spring to mind the brand they represent has truly excelled in her role.
But what makes up the rest the package? First and foremost, a passion for fashion and being photogenic. The more generic qualities are:
Personality, deportment, flexibilty, good sense of color coordination and dedication to style.
As with all people in the limelight, models are not able to relax in public places as there will also be some paparazzi aiming to make a buck or two from photographing a model in a less than glamorous position.
So I guess, if you have chosen that profession, you really do have to look good all the time even when off duty.
No one promised an easy ride but it will be full of hard work and exciting locations and of course, the PR is part and parcel of the profession. Good Luck Ladies ! http://slurl.com/secondlife/BlueDreams%20Islands%20006/124/146/25
A Word from Svenja Tuesday, Nov 10 2009

Today I spoke with Svenja Dreschler who told me this: Svenja Drechsler‧: My love is the runway, its a challenge every time. I am really hungry about the sensation of a runway show, it brings joy to see what we can do when we work as a team. And inspite of any modeling academies you can go to, the experience on the runway, the other models with their helping hands and useful tips and tricks is something that cannot be bought. I met so many lovely people on my way so far and I am grateful. They all welcomed me with open arms and shared some of their little helpful secrets with me. I will try and do the same, to make every fashion show an event for everyone and to create the best atmosphere possible.
My tip: don’t run after styles and hypes, create your own!! Mix and match and inspire others to do so too!! Really, its worth it and opens new dimensions of creativity!
A Thought About Winning Tuesday, Nov 10 2009

It has been rolling around in the back of my mind today that there are winnings associated with the Miss Refined International Contest. If I should indeed win, what would my linden be used for? We see on sl many charities supported. My choice is clear. My dear friend in rl, and also on sl has breast cancer. She has suffered and I have watched and attempted to support her. For a year now she has undergone chemotherapy and radiation therapy. I have seen her struggle to work as she is a single mother. We do not realize what a hardship it is to be in a position like that until it happens to us. There………..there is where my lindens will go. To support the efforts in curing cancer. It hits home solidly to me. I love you Anna. God be with you.
Miss Refined International Contest – An Update Monday, Nov 9 2009

When confronted with challenge number 1 ~ to make a blog, I felt dizzy and thought “well there I go out the proverbial door”. But my parental voices played in my head. I could hear my mother saying, ” Lela Exonar, you give up too easily. When the going gets tough, you quit “! Sigh. Yes we all have them. So for days and days I worked to figure it out. One night, with the deadline approaching, I was miserable and went to bed with the task seemingly undone. When I awakened to find that I had indeed succeeded, I jumped around my office like a little girl. See mom, I thought, I am NOT a quitter! Thank you, MRI, I love proving my mother wrong, even just in my own head.
